In two and a half weeks, I will be officially be on Winter Break! The next two and a half weeks will be miserable because I have so much work to do, but after that, I have four weeks of no teaching! I will not say four weeks of “no work,” which is what most people think that teacher and professor breaks are, because there is a lot of work to do over the break. The breaks are truly just from the day-to-day teaching responsibilities, grading, etc. But, teachers spend their breaks doing a lot of prepping for the next semester, handling administrative duties, and catching up on all the things they never have time to do during the school year. Although a lot of people think of teaching as a “cush” job, most people would be frustrated by all the things you have to do that aren’t considered part of your official job description and how much time outside of work you spend doing work. But, the break really is an energy booster for me! So, I’m looking forward to it.
Vicks VapoRub. I know people either seem to love this stuff or really, really hate it. I am a lover of it. I think at least half of the reason is the aromatherapy connection to my youth. It takes me back to when I was little and my mom would rub the stuff on my chest and throat and it felt warm and comforting. So, it still feels warm and comforting to me. I will even use it as a muscle rub if I don’t have something else available to me. The heat helps to relax my muscle and the smell gives me emotional comfort. This is one of the few things I ALWAYS have in my travel bag and my medicine cabinet. So, thanks Vicks!
Finally, Candy Cane Green Tea from Trader Joe’s! I was introduced to this last year in a food exchange and I actually use it to make iced tea – mixing it with regular Lipton Tea (another love of mine) and it makes it taste so fresh and festive! I love, love, love it. I would probably like it hot too, but I rarely drink hot tea – it is usually coffee if I’m drinking a hot drink. But, it makes for a great batch of iced tea!
So, there you have it – three random Thumbs Up for this Thursday!
