Wordless Wednesday – New Puppy Edition

This week’s Wordless Wednesday is going to be focused on our new puppy.  Why do we have a new puppy?  That is an excellent question.  But, we do and she is very cute.  We were given her by an incredibly generous former student of mine who had bred her dog and had a large litter.  So…introducing Scout:

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

I haven’t done one of these in a while, but it has been a decent picture-taking week.  I really would like to take more pictures, but my phone battery is worthless and I often run out of power before pictures.  Which is sad, but definitely a First World problem.

It has been a week of guinea pig appreciation in our household.  We got the guins a while ago and my DD really loves them.  As you can see above, we have couch dinners for them, she reads to them, she lets them play on Animal Crossing on her 3DS, etc.  She also uses our dog as a pillow.  The middle bottom is her and her best friend from school on our way to the end-of-the-year park play day.  Tomorrow we have a sleepover with the same friend for the last day of school.

It has been a good week and we leave for beautiful (and much cooler) Monterey in two days!  Looking forward to relaxing before the stressful hospital stay.

I don’t do a ton of Wordless Wednesdays, so some of the photos below will be from more than just this past week.  But, what the heck…I have some good ones to share, so why not share them!

We started our mini-vacation at Phil’s Fish Market in Moss Landing!  Bean posed with the snowmen…

We had a great visit at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and got to see a ton of Jellyfish, big and small!

And spent some time at the beach, where there were cool weather and even cooler sights to see.

I am beginning to think that NOT having to do something makes that thing more possible.  Deep, right?  First a couple of highlights from the weekend at the lake (which we never actually saw – the guys went fishing, but the rest of us did not make it to the actual lake)…

My DD started First Grade and loves it so far.  I spent this morning going to the Farmer’s Market, eating tamales from said Farmer’s Market, making a smoothie, working and cleaning in a quiet house.  Praises to a week of DD in school without me having to teach!  Tomorrow will be a full day of meetings, meetings and more meetings, but today was bliss.

Wordless Wednesday

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday on a Thursday

This past week I’ve not taken many pictures really.  Between being sick and then doing 101 things before Noon on Monday and Tuesday, I’ve just not found the time or had the inclination to take many pictures.  But, here’s a few:

First, the weather here has been unseasonably cool and it. is. glorious!  Usually this time of year we are in the 100s most days and breaking into the 110s every once in a while.  But, last week we didn’t have any days that were above the 90s and many days in the 80s!  This week we will have one day in the 100s (tomorrow) and most days were in the low 90s.  I’m getting spoiled.  I wish that every summer was like this here.  This is one of the few things I don’t like about where we live.  It is hard to fully enjoy summer time when you are sweating buckets the whole time and you can’t comfortably go out between the hours of 11 am and 6 pm because it is just too blazing hot.   Hoping for a continuation of the coolness.  Plus, it helps keep the fire danger down in our drought conditions.  So, we took this chance to enjoy the park after church on Sunday.

Art Camp started this week.  A local artist who used to do elementary school art teaching goes to our church and offers week long art camps a few times during the year and I’ve been waiting until Bean was old enough to attend.  The first day either really wore her out or she was fighting a bit of a bug.  She was zonked out on the couch like this for over two hours!  She rarely naps anymore, so it was unusual and actually quite nice.

Here is an example of the artwork – hers is in the middle.

I also received my Walmart Beauty box.  For $5 they send me a bunch of samples that I can try out.  I’m not very adventurous when it comes to makeup and fragrances, so this gives me a chance to try things without investing much.  This one has some interesting things in it.

So, that was it for pics this week.  Not a whole lot.  And I’m finally finishing this post that I started yesterday.  Last night I did a Mom’s Night Out (will post about that later this week), so I didn’t get it done.  But, now you have it!

Wordless Wednesday

(almost) Wordless Wednesday

This past week was a busy one.  We started it out in Bakersfield at my in-laws and then I took the train to my mom’s for the weekend.  Not much in the way of pictures, but I did take a few:

My tray table on the train.  I love that you get to leave them down at all times (versus planes where you have to put them up for take off and landings) and the seats are so much more spacious on the train.  If it were cheaper and more convenient, I would take the train a lot more.  But, from our hometown, it only comes through at 3 a.m., so you have to take an Amtrak bus (which isn’t horrible, but it isn’t the train) then get off and switch to a train in Sacramento.  And it is also expensive if it isn’t just me traveling – the car is much cheaper and more convenient.  Especially our Prius!

We also had a chance to go out on the lake in our boat on Monday.  I must admit that I like being on the boat because of moments like this:

The problem is that when our DD is along for the ride and my hubby is fishing, these are exactly that – only moments.  I have to keep DD entertained (we did get a chance to go swimming in the lake, but it is tiring) and we’re constantly moving to new fishing spots.  If I could spend an afternoon like this, it would be the best.  But, DD had more fun this time than last time.

Overall, it was a good day and a nice last trip to the lake before my hubby leaves for seven weeks for work.  😦  By the time he gets back, there may be no more lake left with the way the drought is going here in Nor Cal.

These are from a year and a half ago and it has only gotten worse since then.

So, there is my last week in some pictures.  Are you sharing on Wordless Wednesday?  Post a link in the comments below.  I’d love to come by!  Have a great week!

(not so) Wordless Wednesday

As I said in a previous post, we have been busy, busy, busy as of late.  Lots of fun stuff in the mix though, so it doesn’t seem quite as bad as it could have been.  But, here are some of the things we’ve done the past week:

Last day of Kindergarten!

My DD has made it through her first year of public schooling.  I was fearful that it would not work with her immunity situation and her sometimes constant illnesses.  But, we had a good year health wise and she absolutely loved it (for all but a couple of weeks when her med levels were off and she was crying everyday about going to school).  So, that was a definite win!

We went to a bowling party for one of her school friends.  Nine little girls, bowling balls, pizza and lots and lots of laughter.  Definitely a fun party!  She says she wants to do a bowling party for her birthday this next year, but that is sure to change about a million times!

We got to spend some time with friends who we had not seen in a long, long time.  They have a little girl who is cute as a bug and Bean loved her.  It was a GREAT time!  I’m so glad we got to spend the time together and I hope this post will remind me in the future to plan to spend more time with them!

Our good friends got married on Saturday (after the bowling birthday party) in a beautiful outdoor setting.  We enjoyed the photo booth, the food, the dancing and our friends!

I had jury duty Monday morning.  This made me (1) glad I am NOT  an attorney in Butte County, (2) thankful I have never had to put my trust in a jury decision and (3) very thankful I did NOT get chosen for jury duty!

We then took off and started driving to the Central Valley to visit my in-laws.  We stayed in Turlock, got up at 8 a.m. for a swim in the hotel pool and then drove the rest of the way.  But, this was my Bean at about 7:30 a.m.

I see her teen years in the picture…

So, that is my last week in pictures.  Not exactly wordless, but still Wednesday.  🙂
