Six Word Saturday

Six Word Saturday (6WS) – Work and Rest

Tough day at work – now…rest.

I am home alone this weekend.  An unusual occurrence and something I very much enjoy.  It is weird.  I am rarely alone, but enjoy short bouts of solitude quite a bit.  I am often alone with my four year old, but that, my friends, is definitely NOT alone!  But, today I had an all day event at work.  It started out at 6:30 with a coffee traveler from Starbucks and ended tonight at 7 p.m. with a big sigh of relief.  The event is something I do every semester, but each semester is different.  The past couple of have been very smooth and enjoyable.  This one, not so much.

So, I’m exhausted after the very, very long day.  But, now I get to sleep in my own bed ALL BY MYSELF!  Crazy!  I also get to get up at whatever time I want to tomorrow (probably early because my body is now programmed to wake up early), watch whatever I want on TV, eat whatever I want all day long, go where ever I want whenever I want during the day and hopefully get a lot done.  I love my husband and daughter very much, but I also love my alone time.  I probably won’t do much different than I would have done if they had been home, but I will say that a few days without a medication schedule, constant “Mommy”s during the day and the need to entertain a four year old is very welcome.  I do need to get a lot of grading done.  My goal is to have my grading done by the end of the semester, so I can focus on prepping my classes for next semester and enjoying the holidays with my family.

What about you?  Can you capture your Saturday in Six Words?

Thumbs Up Thursday #5 – New Fall Coffee

chocolate chai tea latte
My new fall love….

Starbucks has been a mainstay for me in the coffee wars for years now.  I also will visit Peet’s and Dutch Bros., but I am a Starbucks gold card carrier and proud of it.  I have tried many of their drinks, moving from Vanilla Lattes to Mistos to just plain Lattes to Iced Teas and back and forth depending on my mood.  I have grown to dislike too-sweet drinks, so when I do any flavoring it is with half the syrup, but I do love when Fall comes around and I can get the Pumpkin Spice Latte or the Peppermint Mocha on those crisp fall mornings or to help me plow through some grading on a cold winter night.  But, I’m afraid that I may have to leave those behind this fall for their new selection, the Chocolate Chai Tea Latte.  I received a coupon for half off in my email (courtesy of the Gold Card membership) and thought I would give it a shot.  And am I glad I did.

Notice that nowhere in my list of drinks that I have tried at Starbucks did Chai Tea Latte appear.  I’m not sure why I have avoided this drink, especially considering my love of Black Tea and the Latte.  But, I remember trying it at a farmer’s market once (not Starbucks) and it tasted kind of like dirt to me, so I passed.  It may have been made with soy milk, which also makes my regular Lattes taste like dirt, but all this time, I have equated that dirt taste with Chai Tea instead.  Silly, silly me.  I ordered the drink with half the chocolate since I don’t like things to be too sweet and it was perfect.  It reminds me of a Mexican Hot Chocolate, which I also love.  Spicy, sweet, smooth and satisfying!  And it has the caffeinated punch that I need!

So, I think this will be my new go-to drink for the Fall.  And I think I may be reverting to Chai Tea Lattes when the fall season ends and we revert back to the “normal” list of drinks available.  But, if you’re looking for a new fall treat and you like your coffee with a lot of flavor, but not necessarily a lot of sweet, this drink may be for you!  Check it out the next time you’re visiting a Starbucks!

Introducing To-Do Tuesdays (used to be Travelin’ Tuesdays)

clock

I am changing my blog schedule slightly.  I originally had Tuesdays reserved for travel posts, but I find that I just don’t like writing about travel much.  I like pictures and I can use those on Wordless Wednesdays, but I don’t like writing actual details about my travels a whole lot.  I sometimes write reviews on places we visited for Trekaroo – you can find my profile here – but I don’t do things every week, so writing something every week is a little bit much for me.  So, I’ve decided to use Tuesdays for To-Dos…I can be a bit flexible about what exactly “to-do” means.  I could use it to make lists of what I need to be doing in the upcoming week.  I could use it as a bucket list kind of post.  I could talk about time management, home management, work/life balance.  There are so many things.  So, I think it will be easier for me to find things to write about each week using this as my guiding subject rather than travel.

This week, my to-dos include inspiration to improve my eating in a simple way, inspired by this post by Danielle at Eat Well, Live Well .  This, I may be able to do.

Also on the list for me this week is to try some Secret Money-Saving Starbucks!

And, I may stop by on campus and do this

I like this Tuesday To-Do thing…
